School Development (SD)
What is 'School development'?
'School Development' is a collaborative, systematic, planning and decision-making process involving the school community in improving student learning and achievement. The strategies and actions that evolve from agreed upon goals should impact student learning both at the classroom level and school-wide. Monitoring and evaluation is integral to the process. As a result of school development, the school moves continually towards becoming a learning community -- a center of inquiry.
Professional development for teachers is ongoing and consists of varied opportunities, many of which become embedded in the daily routines of the school. Through the school development process, the school builds its capacity to manage change more effectively.
